I love how it turned out, loose and boxy, with lots of ease, room to cuddle up on windy winter days.After the collar was sewn to the neckline, the seam was bulky and unsightly.  Satin ribbon was hand sewn to cover the seam making the seam beautiful to the touch. I wound it from its ball and formed a hank from it, then washed it with hair conditioner.  When dry, re-wound it into a center-pull ball and it is soft and nice to knit.  The color transitions are amazing! So far the cuff of my new socks flows from khaki green to black to bright green. I doubled the yarn, Cascade 220, and knitted in the round on size 13 needles.  After knitting the band, a great headband by itself, I picked up 60 stitches around and every ten stitches knitted 2 together until there were 12 remaining to bind off. I love this yarn and the hat is soft and warm. It is as interesting inside as out since the dark reverses to the light side. The construction is fascinating.  When hand knitting looks like woven fabric, is it worth the enormous effort? This sweater has been so fascinating to knit even though it has been very slow to knit up. I'm surprised by how light it is even though it is 100% wool. When the jacket was buttoned up,  they hung loosely and pulled on the yarn. Solution: added large, flat buttons to the inside, behind the shiny buttons as a stabilizer. I usually make my hats too small so I knitted the large size and it is really comfortable. Patons Classic Merino Wool was used triple stranded on size 11 needles. The pattern gauge was 'bulky.' I wanted to dress it up so I made an embellishment using glass silvery beads and pewter charms with leftover felted stars.
