I made my headband in Cascade 220 , a 100% Peruvian highlands wool with size 6 needles and modified the pattern slightly so that the sides covering the ears was wider earlier in the pattern. On Ravelry, I read many pattern comments from other knitters complaining about the width at the ears. I think that the needle size in the original pattern (US 7) would not give the knitter the required 4 1/2 st per inch per the pattern (yarn gauge per mfr. is using US 4 or 5). Always check your gauge!
