inside backing button - no more floppy buttons!

This is the inside view of the backing buttons I added to stabilize the shank button sewn on the front side. When the jacket was buttoned up, they hung loosely and pulled on the yarn. Solution: added large, flat buttons to the inside, behind the shiny buttons as a stabilizer. Now when the jacket is worn open, the front band is solid and hangs smoothly.

definition: A shank is a device for providing a small amount of space in between a garment and a button. Shanks are necessary to provide space for fabric to sit in between the button and the garment when the garment is buttoned.
